Chocolate Cayenne Pepper Truffles

The unique flavor combination of dark chocolate and cayenne pepper is surprisingly easy to make and wonderfully decadent treat.

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Cocoa powder for rolling

Directions:

  1. Place the finely chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and butter over medium heat until it starts to simmer.
  3. Remove the cream mixture from the heat and pour it over the chopped chocolate.
  4. Let it sit for a minute to soften the chocolate, then stir until smooth and well combined.
  5. Add the cayenne pepper to the chocolate mixture and stir until fully incorporated.
  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for about 2 hours, or until it becomes firm.
  7. Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out portions of the chilled chocolate mixture and roll them into small truffle balls.
  8. Roll each truffle in cocoa powder to coat evenly.
  9. Place the finished truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes to set.
  10. Serve the chocolate and cayenne pepper truffles as a delightful and slightly spicy dessert.
